    Assistant Quantity Surveyor – Legacy
Build a Career with Purpose at Dandara Living

If you’re looking to develop your career in quantity surveying while working on projects that genuinely matter, Dandara Living offers an opportunity with real impact. Join a business where your work contributes to safer homes, stronger communities, and a built environment that meets the highest standards.

At Dandara Living, you’ll work alongside experienced professionals, gain exposure to complex and meaningful projects, and build long-term career foundations within a supportive, forward-thinking team.

    About the Role

Based in Altrincham, with regular site attendance, this role sits within Dandara Living’s Legacy team — a specialist division focused on upgrading pre-Grenfell apartment buildings to meet current building safety and fire remediation legislation, including cladding and life-safety systems.

As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you’ll support the commercial delivery of remediation works across our legacy portfolio, working closely with the Commercial Manager and wider project teams. This role is ideal for a developing QS who has a strong grounding in quantity surveying principles and is ready to take the next step in a technically interesting, compliance-driven environment.

The role will involve travel between various legacy sites, primarily across Manchester, with occasional travel to Hemel Hempstead and Scotland. A car allowance, mileage, and accommodation costs will be covered where applicable.

    What You Will Do

    • Support commercial and project coordination across live remediation projects
    • Assist with cost planning, budgeting, and ongoing cost control
    • Maintain accurate cost records, site files, and commercial data
    • Support subcontract procurement, tender preparation, and package evaluation
    • Assist with subcontract negotiations and commercial meetings
    • Process subcontract payments, variations, and change control records
    • Support measurement, take-offs, and material scheduling
    • Attend site visits, inspections, and project meetings
    • Assist with monthly cost reporting and cashflow forecasts
    • Liaise with internal teams including Procurement, Legal, Operations, and Delivery
    • Develop knowledge of contracts, PAS 9980, and building safety legislation

    What You Will Have

    • BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying
    • Experience in an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or similar commercial role
    • Exposure to live construction or remediation projects
    • Strong numeracy, organisation, and communication skills
    • A proactive, calm, and problem-solving mindset
    • Confidence working with multiple stakeholders
    • Experience in façade or remedial works (desirable, not essential)
    • Familiarity with commercial systems such as COINS (desirable, not essential)
