The Role
We’re looking for an ambitious Trainee Quantity Surveyor to join our Commercial team in Jersey. This is a structured development role that offers hands-on experience across all stages of the construction process — from pre-construction and procurement through to live project delivery and final accounts.
You’ll support our Quantity Surveyors in managing costs, contracts, and procurement, gaining real commercial experience while working towards professional qualifications, funded by Dandara.
What you will do
You’ll learn the commercial foundations of construction through a mix of on-the-job experience and formal development. Activities will include:
Assisting in the preparation of budgets, tenders, and cost plans.
Supporting subcontractor valuations, variations, and final accounts.
Helping with material procurement and analysing supplier quotations.
Maintaining cost and labour reports, timesheets, and commercial systems.
Liaising with local suppliers and contractors on orders and deliveries.
Supporting monthly reporting and compliance with company processes.
Taking part in site visits and progress meetings to understand the full project lifecycle.
What you will bring
A genuine interest in construction, quantity surveying, or commercial management.
Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
Good IT skills, particularly Excel; knowledge of AutoCAD or CostX is a bonus.
A positive, proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
Experience or education in a construction-related field is desirable but not essential.
